Summer Readings
Fellows from the previous fall and spring sessions are asked to submit a new draft of their screenplay for consideration in the summer workshop, which centers around a series of script readings by veteran professional film actors. Four to six writers are invited back to participate in these closed sessions.
During this workshop each screenplay is read by professional actors, followed by an intensive discussion with all the advisors and writers in the session. Participants are asked to attend all readings and discussions. Following the readings, the writer will have one private follow-up session with his or her advisor.
We also use the Summer Session as an opportunity for training new story editors. Local writers may have the benefit of working with these trainees over the summer as new drafts are written.
