Library & Resources

The Praxis library is currently home to over 1100 original-format screenplays (produced features, television series and MOW's), 220 published scripts in book form, and 800 film and writing-related books. We also subscribe to a number of resources, such as the Hollywood Creative Directory, and magazines including Playback, Reel West, Creative Screenwriting, Script, Screentalk, Canadian Screenwriter, Written By, Take One, Screenwriter and Hollywood Scriptwriter. We archive magazines and also collect reference materials such as directories, guides and information on funding, education, organizations and the like.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 12pm - 4:30 pm
Friday,  12pm - 7pm
Weekend - closed

Praxis members may pre-arrange to book a time to use the library outside of the posted hours pending staff availability. Call or e-mail for confirmation.

Only Praxis members with '07/'08 memberships in good standing will be entitled to borrow library items.

To renew or become a Praxis member please contact us via phone or e-mail. Praxis members are permitted to sign out three library items at a time for a two-week period (except as noted on the search page).

Our inventories show that over 245 scripts and books are missing from our shelves.  Given the rate of disappearances, we've made the following revisions to our lending policies:

As of January 2008, overdue fees are 50¢/day or $2.50/week per item with a maximum of $20 per item. If the item is lost, a replacement in full is required.

For members who have items from the library that are more than a month overdue, membership privileges will be suspended until the titles are returned and the overdue fines paid in full.

(Membership privileges include borrowing from the library, discounts on courses and script analysis, and receiving weekly email bulletins and other electronic bulletins).
